Bigfoot Beverages has a great career opportunity! We are recruiting for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the operation and administration of the fiscal functions of all four companies and multiple family entities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry.  Responsible for internal controls, accounting procedures, cost accounting methodology and implementation, budget development, financial analysis, long-range financial planning and strategic planning.

Strategic Financial Planning

  1. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance for all four companies and multiple family entities.
  2. Participate in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  3. Function as a member of the Company’s executive team.
  4. With the owners, develop a long-range financial plan for the Company, monitor and implement strategies to achieve the goals of the plan.
  5. Act as primary advisor to the owners and managers on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the company.
  6. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
  7. Manage relationships with banks, insurance companies and other financial vendors.
  8. Provide data and recommendations for Company based on financial analysis and Company goals.
  9. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  10. Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the organization may enter.
  11. Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges..


Department Structure and Controls

  1. Design, implement and monitor department processes.
  2. Enhance and/or develop and monitor a system of robust internal controls.
  3. Develop, implement and monitor recordkeeping and internal controls.
  4. Continuous improvement of procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.


Accounting, Finance and IT

  1. Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the business.
  2. Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others in the organization.
  3. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
  4. Oversee and manage cash and other assets. 
  5. Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  6. Evaluate the accounting and IT departments and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
  7. Supervise the collection, safekeeping and distribution of all assets (monetary and tangible).
  8. Oversee, implement and monitor budget preparation process to ensure timely completion.
  9. Review team members accounting work, assist with month end and provide support for complex accounting issues.
  10. Oversee the preparation of year end.
  11. Utilize a variety of software programs, including ERP accounting software, inventory management, excel, VIP, Margin Minder and others as needed.
  12. Timely, accurate financial statements, budgeting and cost accounting.



  1. Develop credibility for the accounting department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Presidents, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
  2. Oversee the preparation of financial management reports for departmental, customer, product line, or strategic analysis with assistance from the Controller.
  3. Prepare and monitor projections and forecasting.
  4. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  5. Prepare financial information required for banks and other third parties and monitor compliance with loans, and other regulations, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility         

This role manages the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the accounting department and IT department.  This position is responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable laws and uses performance management coaching and training to maintain a productive team. This position directly supervises the IT Manager and Controller.


Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment, with occasional warehouse exposure, and is rarely in the trade however does occasionally travel to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport) and for industry conferences or professional training.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets and fax machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend, use hands; and sit. The employee is rarely required to push; pull; move; carry; lift; climb and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.  The employee must be able to lift up to 35lbs occasionally.  Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  The schedule is Monday through Friday with some weekend work as necessary. 40 plus hours weekly, shift start time varies based on daily need.  This is an exempt level position.



Occasional travel to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport) and industry conferences and professional training.


Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance.
  2. Minimum of 10 plus years managing accounting and finance operations.


Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Experience in Accounting for Distribution, Manufacturing, Inventory and Cost Accounting.
  2. Managing an IT department.
  3. CPA or CMA.
  4. MBA.


This is a full-time, exempt level position, Monday-Friday, with some weekend work as necessary.
