This position will lead the day-to-day accounting operations across all company locations.  Partnering with the CFO to lead the annual budgeting process and oversee the production of accurate and timely financial statements and other reporting that is in compliance with GAAP, other tax & accounting standards and all laws and regulations.  Maintenance of an efficient and accurate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of internal controls designed to mitigate risk are also priorities for this position.  Strong team management experience is key to being successful in this role.


Essential Functions

  1. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including developing the goals for the department and implementing efficiencies.
  2. Oversee all G&A budgeting and control G & A expenses.
  3. Oversee the integrity of inventory records, cost of goods sold and inventory controls.
  4. Analyze business on a regular basis using financial, sales information, reports and performance data to measure productivity and goals or to identify areas of cost reduction or program improvement.
  5. Ensure issuance of timely, complete and accurate financial statements.
  6. Establish and maintain record retention management policy and procedures, ensure compliance with any Federal or State retention laws.
  7. Calculate, analyze and issue financial and operating metrics as necessary.
  8. Manage the production of the annual budget.
  9. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to CFO.
  10. Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, accounting practices and policies, processes and data.
  11. Communicate with CFO on a regular basis on relevant and/or major issues, special projects and department planning.
  12. Respond to CFO, as assigned, with accurate and timely work to facilitate their needs on projects, analysis and reporting, using the ability to interpret, analyze and summarize information, data and trends.
  13. Effective use of company assets.
  14. Coordinate, prepare or review all local, state and federal government reporting and tax filings.
  15. Coordinate external audits & reviews and be point of contact to provide information to external auditors.
  16. Special projects, project management and implementation of new systems.
  17. Ensure timely and accurate sales reports, assist in creating reports and disseminating reports.
  18. Manage and monitor outsourced functions.
  19. Maintain confidentiality of financial information and plans.
  20. Provide motivational leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development. Ensure personnel are in a position for success, both for the individual and the company.
  21. Maintain a qualified staff with involvement in recruitment, retention, and performance management. Recommend and make decisions on salary adjustments, transfers, promotions and dismissals.
  22. Work with HR to ensure compliance and consistency with company policy, procedures, documentation and HR related issues.
  23. Provide leadership for problem resolution; facilitate improved working relations.
  24. Effective communication inter-departmentally and companywide.
  25. Plan and coordinate accounting department’s management bonus goals, employee bonus goals, employee career development, continuing education and compliance trainings.
  26. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, conferences, reviewing publications and notifications and networking.


Coordinate with the Accounting Department on the Following:

  1. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, and if applicable that all discounts are taken.
  2. Oversee the activities of accounts receivable to ensure accurate and timely management of aging and prompt collections.
  3. Ensure the processing of payroll is timely and accurate.
  4. Ensure bank reconciliations are completed.
  5. Maintain an orderly accounting filing & scanning system.

Supervisory Responsibility          

This role manages the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the accounting department.  This position is responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable laws and uses performance management coaching and training to maintain a productive team. (Department total of 10 employees, covering multiple shifts).


Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment, with occasional warehouse exposure, and is rarely in the trade however does occasionally travel to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport) and for industry conferences or professional training.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets and fax machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend, use hands; and sit. The employee is rarely required to push; pull; move; carry; lift; climb and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.  The employee must be able to lift up to 35lbs occasionally.  Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  The schedule is Monday through Friday with some weekend work as necessary. 40 plus hours weekly, shift start time varies based on daily need.  This is an exempt level position.



Occasional travel to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport) and industry conferences and professional training.


Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience with 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
  2. Minimum of five years managing teams and individuals; supervising, coaching and developing staff.
  3. Must have experience in full cycle accounting, inventory procedures and  knowledge of all accounting functions, including financial statement preparation in compliance with GAAP.


Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Beverage industry experience.
  2. CPA license is preferred but not required.
