Network Administrator


Bigfoot Beverages Eugene is recruiting for a Network Administrator to join our IT Department. The Network Administrator will oversee and execute the installation, maintenance, support and optimization of all network hardware, software and communication links.  This position will analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems, and provide end user training where required.  Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and tracking tools as well as require hands-on assistance at various levels.  Works closely and has exceptional communication with the IT Manager, vendors and company employees. This is a full-time position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.  The regular shift start time is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with additional hours and weekend work as necessary.  This is an exempt level position.

                                     

 

Essential Functions

  1. Set-up, configure and assist in the installation of servers, networks and workstations.  Develop implementation plans and provide hands-on support throughout the process. 
  2. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all hardware and software issues. 
  3. Maintain knowledge of company operating system and application software being used to provide assistance, support and maximize network efficiency and utilization by all users. 
  4. Plan, schedule and assist with network implementations, upgrades and migrations with attention to minimizing impact on users.  Ensure network projects meet security guidelines based on company policy and best practice.
  5. Set-up, install and monitor networks (LAN and WAN).  Perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company standards and user satisfaction.
  6. Monitor and maintain routers, switches, servers, storage, network and security appliance and other related equipment or services to ensure efficient and effective functionality. 
  7. Monitor the Helpdesk trouble ticket tracking system and provide support to issues as needed. 
  8. Assist in the management of asset inventory for IT hardware, software and equipment.
  9. Create and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures (SOP), one-off installations and end user training. 
  10. Maintain WIFI network and hand-held scanner/barcode units for warehouse.
  11. Manage and provide support for Microsoft technologies including but not limited to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Management. 
  12. Assist in the administration of the company phone system including mobile phones and electronic devices. 
  13. Maintain effective and efficient teleconferencing equipment and provide instruction to company users. 
  14. Monitor and evaluate efficiency of software and hardware usage, providing items to be covered in training of users, making them more efficient. 
  15. Work closely with a Managed Service Provider to ensure policies are followed and the company network is secure.
  16. Research and provide recommendations for computer hardware and network products.
  17. Regular and reliable attendance.

 

 

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment, with occasional warehouse exposure, occasionally travels to other company locations (Bend, Roseburg, Coos Bay and Newport) and for industry conferences or professional training.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets and fax machine. 

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field; or high school diploma or GED with equivalent experience.
  2. 3-5 years working in an IT related field handling servers, operating systems, computer software, help desk and network peripherals.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. CompTia A+ Certification.
  2. Network+ Certification.
  3. Cisco, Sophos, Ubiquity, Zoom and VMware Technologies experience.
  4. Knowledge of DNS and DHCP in a complex networking environment.
